Mental Health and Art: Glass Art Society Tacoma 2022 Presentation

Mental Health and Art: Glass Art Society Tacoma 2022 Presentation

In May 2022, I joined the Glass Art Society's annual conference in Tacoma, Washington, celebrating 50 years of the Society on the shores of south Puget Sound.

I spoke on a panel about the intersection between art and mental health.

Emotion gives us motion, art gives us life. Suffering and meaning find themselves entangled in the creative process and artistic endeavor. While many artists struggle with their mental health, these struggles are often left out of the discourse and dialogue. The panel explored the intersection between mental health and art, how the two are related, and how to increase awareness around mental health in creative spaces.

The Mental Health Panel was held in Ballroom C of the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, with panelists Judy Ko, James Nole, and Danie Nitardy.
